This was an interesting wood garage door refinishing job that we did in Huntington Harbor, California. It was referred to us by a general contractor for whom does a lot of work in the area.
As you can see these garage doors are very weathered. The sun has caused them to be grayed out, to get oxidized to the point where the material used to finish the wood has failed. It may have been a standard polyurethane but even when properly applied to the wood it will only last 3 – 5 years with a constant Southern exposure to the sun all day. Homeowners should know that the sooner they act the better because if it is left too long the wood can be damaged past the point of restoration.
